Hands-On Learning, Farm Safety and Agronomy Excellence
It has been a busy and exciting month at Longerenong College, with students benefiting from new equipment, industry partnerships, and opportunities to showcase their skills and knowledge.

New John Deere tractor arrives on campus
Students and staff welcomed the arrival of a new John Deere 6M 140 FEL tractor to campus, marking another milestone in the growing partnership between Longerenong College and Emmetts.
The tractor will be incorporated into practical training activities, helping students build familiarity with the equipment and technology used across the agricultural industry today.
The arrival of new machinery always generates excitement and reinforces the strong links between industry and agricultural education.
College supports farm safety initiative
Longerenong College recently welcomed the team from People in Paddocks for the filming of a series of "Safety Served Sweet" farm safety videos, an initiative supported by Agriculture Victoria and WorkSafe.
With the farm providing the backdrop and students featured throughout the series, the project highlighted the importance of building a strong safety culture among the next generation of farmers and agricultural workers.
It also provided an opportunity to share practical safety messages across the agricultural sector, while reinforcing the College's commitment to promoting farm safety and best practice.
Students showcase research at Agronomy Field Days
Longerenong College agronomy students recently presented the results of their crop research trials at the annual Agronomy Field Days.
The presentations marked the culmination of months of planning, monitoring, and analysis, with students sharing their findings with trainers and industry representatives.
Attendees included Simon Anstis from Bayer, Tim Davey and Mark Phelan from BASF, and Ashley Wallace and Roger Perris from Agriculture Victoria.
Students conducting off-site crop trials delivered presentations in the College auditorium, while those managing on-farm trials shared their results in the paddock, creating a practical setting for discussion and learning.
Following the student presentations, Longerenong College's research partners, Bayer, BASF and Agriculture Victoria, provided updates on their own crop trials and research projects.
The opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders gave students insight into current research while reinforcing the strong relationships between the College and the agricultural sector.
These activities demonstrate Longerenong College's commitment to industry-engaged education, practical learning and preparing students for successful careers in agriculture.
