Man in the Corner: The Great Natimuk Sound Test

The Man in the Corner has learned that organising a concert is a serious scientific process. Especially when brass instruments are involved.

Last week, Tom from Shrewd Brass joined Karl and Mark from the City Band at the Natimuk concert site to conduct some important “acoustic testing”.

This involved enthusiastic hand-clapping and careful listening to how the sound bounced off grass, concrete, brick walls, pathways and trees.

Naturally, things escalated. Tom grabbed his trombone, Karl picked up his tuba, and Mark discovered a cornet in the back of the Moke.

Karl ran through some beautil scales, Mark offered a few variations on the Last Post.

Not to be outdone by the musical prowess, Tom played... How Much Is That Doggy in the Window?

After much testing, Tom made the official announcement: “Here. This is the place”.

The Man in the Corner suspects Sunday’s concert may feature a full version of that doggy song.
